Frequently Asked Questions

Would I be considered a UWG student or a student of my high school?

Both! Dual Enrollment means that you are both a student at your high school AND UWG.

Will this interfere with my ability to graduate high school?

No. You'll finish high school graduation requirements by taking classes at UWG. These classes will count for both high school graduation AND college credit.

Can I still do activities and play sports at my home high school?

Yes. Class times are scheduled so you can still return to your home high school by the time after-school extracurriculars begin.

Do I need to go to my home high school if I don't have class?

No. It is actually encouraged for you to not go back to your home high school! That gives you the opportunity to explore all the on campus resources and study rooms.

What happens after I graduate?

Many of our students choose to stay at UWG and finish degree requirements for bachelor's degrees. Some transfer elsewhere with up to 30 hours of college credit already completed.

What if I am struggling with my course(s)?

There are tons of resources for you including our staff as well as tutoring services free for all students in the Center for Academic Success!

How do I apply for Dual Enrollment funding?

Complete the Georgia Futures Dual Enrollment Funding Application at gafutures.org.

Does the funding application have to be submitted each semester that you enroll in classes?

No, the funding application only needs to be completed once per school year. The funding application must be completed before we can register you for classes.

What expenses are not covered by the Dual Enrollment program?

Students may incur expenses for course related fees and supplies required for a particular course or optional fee charged by the postsecondary institution. If the postsecondary institution provided the textbooks through a lending program, the student may be charged a lost or damaged book fee if the book is not returned in the required condition.

The student is responsible for tuition and fees for any course taken that is not on the Dual Enrollment Approved Course Directory and the student’s Dual Enrollment funding application.
