Julie Raschen

Dr. Julie Raschen joined the University of West Georgia as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Educational Leadership following a 30-year career in K-12 public schools.  Dr. Raschen has served in a variety of positions including classroom teacher, assistant principal, principal, and Director of Assessment, Accountability, Title III and MV.  Dr. Raschen has extensive school and district level experience in the areas of curriculum and instruction, human resources, school improvement and strategic planning, assessment, accountability, and school operations. 

During her career, Dr. Raschen served as president, present elect, legislative chair, membership chair, newsletter chair, and district president of the Georgia Association of Elementary School Principals (GAESP). She has been an active member of the Georgia Association of Educational Leaders (GAEL) since 2004 and served on the Board of Directors for the organization from 2021-2013 and 2015-2016.

Dr. Raschen was recognized as a National Distinguished Principal for the National Association of Elementary School Principals in 2014 and as the Coweta County Principal of the Year in 2014. She received numerous service awards including the Exemplary Service Award for GAEL (2017), District Leader of the Year for CCSS (2017), Outstanding Service Award for GAESP (2016), and Georgia Distinguished Principal (GAESP, 2011) during her career.
