Dylan S. McLean, Ph.D.

Dr. Dylan S. McLean is an Associate Professor in the Department of Civic Engagement and Public Service at the University of West Georgia, where teaches courses on American foreign policy, politics, and government. His research interests are broad but primarily focus on how a society’s political culture influences politics and ultimately policy, particularly gun control policy. He has published peer reviewed articles in a variety of journals, and, along with UWG colleague Dr. Anthony Fleming, has written Guns and Values: Individualism in the American Gun Debate, a Palgrave Macmillan book that frames the American gun debate as primarily being driven by the strength individualism’s hold on our culture. Dr. McLean earned his Ph.D. in Political Science from the State University of New York at Buffalo.
