Kudzu Money, LLC (Kudzu) and the University of West Georgia announced today a partnership to establish Kudzu as UWG’s recommended personal finance solution for students. Kudzu is a customer-first online banking app that empowers personal finance newcomers to make smart decisions about their money through transparent account services and customized financial education. Kudzu and UWG finalized their partnership in March, and Kudzu will be introduced to the UWG campus community during fall orientation events this summer.

Kudzu was launched in 2023 to equip those eager to get on the right financial path with approachable online account tools that empower them to manage their money and build independence, without unnecessary fees and restrictions. Through Kudzu, students can move and grow their money with spending and interest-earning savings accounts, built-in virtual Climb™ tools that nurture smart financial habits and PayPerks®, a “learn and earn” educational rewards platform that uses fun, bite-sized learning modules to promote financial literacy while awarding chances to win monthly cash prize drawings.

“At the University of West Georgia, we are committed to providing our students with the resources and opportunities they need to succeed both academically and personally,” said Dr. Brendan Kelly, UWG’s president. “Our partnership with Kudzu reflects this commitment by offering a modern, user-friendly financial solution that aligns with our dedication to the holistic development of our students. By integrating Kudzu’s innovative tools into our university community, our students will build a strong financial foundation and be well-positioned to leverage the careers they launch at UWG into long-term financial success.”

Kudzu’s mission is to make financial freedom accessible to everyone, and it specifically brings value to college and university students by delivering the innovation they expect from fintech, along with transparency and user-friendliness that consumer research shows is often lacking with traditional banks. Backed by more than 50 years of experience in payment solutions, Kudzu’s parent organization, Systems & Methods, Inc. (SMI), is the nation’s leading government payment provider, with a presence in 16 states and 13 Tribes.

UWG and SMI have enjoyed over 50 years of partnership and collaboration together. Local entrepreneur and SMI founder, Bob Stone, was a business management professor at UWG while launching his family business in 1971.

“SMI has a rich history of providing technology and financial solutions to the population of underserved and unreached people who are often overlooked by the traditional financial industry,” said Bill Stone, chief executive officer, SMI. “We believe that Kudzu’s suite of financial products and services will aid students in jump-starting their journey to financial growth.”

“We are thrilled to unveil Kudzu, a customer-centric fintech product dedicated to empowering cardholders with robust financial education,” said Bo Stone, chief strategy officer, SMI. “With Kudzu, we embark on a journey to provide meaningful impact, fostering financial wellness and long-term customer value. This launch marks our commitment to building a brighter financial future for all.”

Kudzu is also pleased to offer UWG students the opportunity to promote and represent Kudzu across their campus community through a Brand Ambassador program. The Kudzu Brand Ambassador role provides a unique opportunity to be at the forefront of promoting an innovative digital financial solution while gaining valuable product, marketing and promotional experience.
