The University of West Georgia’s cheerleading program has once again demonstrated its championship tradition, securing four national titles at the UCA College Nationals

This year's victories bring UWG Cheer to 32 national team titles and three partner stunt titles at UCA Nationals, further solidifying its reputation as one of the premier collegiate cheer programs in the nation.

“At the University of West Georgia, we are committed to providing experiences that prepare our students to face any challenge with confidence and determination,” said Dr. Ashwani Monga, UWG’s interim president. “The world-class athletes of UWG Cheer are shining examples of this spirit, demonstrating resilience, teamwork and excellence on and off the mat. Their success under the leadership of Head Coach Nicole Nichols is extraordinary, and we celebrate not just their championships but the life lessons they’re gaining as student-athletes—lessons that will serve them well beyond their time at UWG.”

The Wolves' championship weekend began on Friday night when UWG’s All-Girl Group Stunt team opened the competition with a first-place finish. The success continued throughout the weekend with a victory in the Small Coed Division, where they outperformed eight other teams in the final round. Shortly after, the Large Coed team secured its second consecutive national championship, continuing its streak of excellence. The All-Girl squad completed the sweep, returning to the top of the podium for the first time since 2022.

“Winning four national championships is a remarkable achievement and a reflection of the hard work and preparation of our student-athletes and coaches,” said Jason Carmichael, UWG’s director of athletics. “UWG Cheer continues to set the standard in collegiate cheerleading, and we are proud of their continued success.”

With this latest achievement, UWG Cheer remains a dominant force in collegiate cheerleading, showcasing the dedication, skill and teamwork that define the program.

“This is such a surreal feeling,” said UWG Cheer Head Coach Nicole Nichols after the three-championship day the team had Sunday. “These athletes have worked so hard to prepare and most importantly have worked to build each other up day in and day out and it showed today.”
