Resources for Alumni, Retirees, and Visitors
We welcome alumni, USG retirees, members of the West Georgia community, high school students, and visiting scholars to visit us on campus and access library materials. Learn more below about services available to each group.
Alumni and Visitors
Alumni status can be obtained at the library by presenting proof of graduation from UWG (diploma, graduation letter) and a photo ID with a current address. After establishing this status, alumni may use their UWG ID or driver’s license to check out items. Alumni privileges will continue in effect as long as the patron uses the library on a regular basis and follows established policies.
Alumni may check out 7 items at a time. Items, except DVDs, can be renewed in person, online, or via telephone. Alumni are eligible to check items out from the library stacks, government documents collection, DVD collection and can check headphones out for in library use. GIL Express and Interlibrary Loan services are not available to Alumni. Overdue fines apply to all items and must be paid to check items out.
Computers are available for Alumni use with login information obtained at the Circulation Desk. Our computers grant access to Ingram Library’s electronic resource collection. These materials cannot be accessed off campus.
Alumni are welcome to use library print stations for color or black and white printing and scanning. Payment is accepted via credit card and print costs can be found on the UWG Printing Services page.

Retirees
There are three standard library services provided to all USG retirees who come to a USG library in person:
- check out of library materials (UWG borrowing policies for retirees),
- access to electronic resources (e.g. GALILEO) while in the library, and,
- reference help, including the navigation of any location-specific policies or agreements affecting these and other services.
Emeriti Faculty
Emeriti faculty at USG institutions are provided full library access (the same as active faculty), including remote access to electronic resources. Emeriti faculty should contact their institution’s library for details and credentials for remote access to electronic resources.
Instructions for UWG Emeriti access to GALILEO:
- Go to https://www.galileo.usg.edu/
- Find and select University of West Georgia
- Follow the on-screen instructions for logging on
- Contact library@westga.edu for assistance or remote access
For more details, visit the GALILEO policy page.
Scholars from other academic institutions who are visiting the University of West Georgia may need access to Library resources in order to complete the work for which they have come. Such individuals may receive full faculty privileges upon submission of the Visiting Scholar Request For Library Services Form.
This form should be completed (with all required signatures) and returned to Lindsey Winchester, Circulation Manager, who will ensure that they are properly entered into our library user database.
Ingram Library is open and available to the public. Library cards are not required to use the facilities or access collections.
Visitors must follow Ingram Library Behavior Standards while visiting the library. Please be aware of the University of West Georgia policies regarding children of students, employees, and visitors on campus.
