Bequest Language

The following language may aid you and your attorney in preparing your bequest to the University of West Georgia:

I give, devise and bequeath to the University of West Georgia Foundation, Inc., an independent Georgia 501(c)(3) organization located in Carrollton, Carroll County, Georgia, for the purpose of supporting the University of West Georgia, an educational institution.

  1. The sum of $____________________;
  2. The following described property ___________________________________________________;
  3. (_________% of) the rest, residue and remainder of my estate.

The property comprising this gift may, for investment purposes, be merged with any of the general investment assets of the University of West Georgia Foundation, Inc., but the gift shall be entered in the Foundation's books and records as the _____________________________________ Fund, and shall always be so designated. The distributions from the fund shall be used:

  1. to further the purposes of the University of West Georgia Foundations, Inc. in its support of the University of West Georgia;
  2. to provide scholarships for deserving students of the University of West Georgia;
  3. to provide support for the following area of study or athletic program _______________________________ at the University of West Georgia;
  4. to support a professorship in _____________________________ at the University of West Georgia.

I choose for my gift to reside in the following UWG Foundation:

  • ____ The University of West Georgia Foundation
  • ____ The University of West Georgia Athletic Foundation (All gifts made to support UWG athletics are administered by the University of West Georgia Athletic Foundation)

This gift may be further restricted as to use by separate gift agreement between the University of West Georgia Foundations, Inc. and me.

If you select a specific purpose for your gift, inclusion of the following sentence will ensure that the bequest remains useful through many decades.

If, in the judgment of the Foundations Governing Board?s, changed circumstances should, at some future time, render the designated use of this fund impracticable, unwise or inappropriate, then the Board shall use the fund to further the objectives and purposes of the University of West Georgia, giving consideration to my special interest as evidence by the purpose described above.

If you choose to name the University of West Georgia Foundations, Inc. as a beneficiary, please let us know of your plans. This will enable us to show our appreciation of your generosity and also include your support in planning the future of the University of West Georgia.

The University of West Georgia Foundations, Inc. are private, nonprofit corporations, established to encourage, receive and manage major current and planned gifts in support of educational and athletic excellence at the University of West Georgia. The University of West Georgia Foundations, Inc. also service those who make their gifts to the University of West Georgia through charitable trusts, charitable gift annuities, and bequests.
