Convocation

Convocation is your official welcome to the University of West Georgia! It kicks-off the fall semester and is an opportunity to connect with your Pack, hear from influential leaders, and receive your Convocation t-shirt. Join us for a full day of activities like classroom tours, college Meet-and-Greets, and so much more! As a reminder, attending Convocation is required for all incoming freshman students.

Convocation Day Events
Check-In and Classroom Tours
Time: 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.
Meet at the Big White Tent next to Ingram Library! Start your day with an informative tour of your classrooms. Get familiar with the campus layout and meet some of your future classmates!

Lunch on Your Own at UWG Dining Halls
Time: 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
Enjoy lunch in one of our dining halls. Take the time to relax, recharge, and experience the campus dining options- and do a little shopping at the bookstore!

College Meet-and-Greets
Time: 1:00 p.m. - 2:30 p.m.
Join us for college-specific meet-and-greet sessions. This is a great opportunity to meet faculty members, ask questions, and learn more about your program!

Convocation Ceremony
Time: 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Held at The Coliseum, this ceremony will officially welcome you into our community! You'll sign your class banner, receive your Convocation t-shirt, take your class picture, be inspired by talks from campus leaders including UWG President Dr. Brendan Kelly, and enjoy food and ice cream. This is where you "Become the Pack!" Attendance is required for all incoming freshmen.

Battle of the Halls
Time: 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
For our residential students, join us for the Battle of the Halls! This signature event is for you to show your hall pride and engage in fun competitions and activities.

Guest Check-In
Time: 9:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.
Meet at the Big White Tent next to Ingram Library with your student based on the time they signed up for with their RSVP!

Guest Activity 1
Time: 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.
Participants: Those guests who checked in at 9:00 a.m. and 9:30 a.m.
Located at the Big White Tent next to Ingram Library, start your day with an informative and fun way to introduce you to UWG.

Guest Sessions 1
Time: 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.
Participants: Those guests who checked in at 9:00 a.m. and 9:30 a.m.
Participate in two sessions that were designed specifically for you! Learn resources and important dates, engage in exercises that are guest specific, and enhance knowledge about billing and financial aid.

Guest Activity 2
Time: 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Participants: Those who checked in at 10:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.
Located at the Campus Center's Back Gym, these are activities that will help support your student's mental focus, decrease stress, and improve the quality of their study time.

Guest Sessions 2
Time: 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Participants: Those guests who checked in at 10:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.
Participate in two sessions that were designed specifically for you! Learn resources and important dates, engage in exercises that are guest specific, and enhance knowledge about billing and financial aid.

College Meet-and-Greets
Time: 2:15 p.m. - 2:45 p.m.
Meet back up with your student at their college-specific Meet-and-Greet sessions. This is a great opportunity to meet faculty members, ask questions, and learn more about your student's program!

Guests are welcome to park at designated parking lots around campus. Wolf Experience Parking signs at our East and West Entrances will lead you to the correct parking lots, and signs will be posted at each lot guiding you to the Check-In Tent at the Grassy Triangle next to Ingram Library.
