Getting Started with Research

The important first step to getting started in undergraduate research is to find a faculty mentor whose interests match yours. Undergraduates work with faculty members in their chosen discipline to identify and frame significant questions and plan research projects.

How to Find a Faculty Mentor:

  • Talk to your professors about their research interests
  • Consult with your department chair and academic advisor
  • Attend student performances, exhibits, and research events
  • Visit Scholars' Day to see current research projects
  • Apply for Student Research Assistant Program (SRAP) positions
