Honors Council
The University of West Georgia Honors Council is comprised of students assembled as a representative body from the Honors College each calendar year.
Responsibilities of the Honors Council include the following:
- Plan and execute activities and projects of interest to the Program
- Aid in recruiting new Honors students
- Make recommendations to the Honors College Advisory Committee regarding the formulation and operation of the Honors Program
- Promote awareness of service-oriented volunteer events or functions and programs
- Provide leadership and direction to enrich the Program for all Honors students.
Honors Council Details
- President: schedule meetings, complete CSI registration, coordinate events
- Vice President for Public Relations: send emails, social media updates, and other communications to honors students and campus
- Vice President for Community Services: organize at least one community/campus service project each semester
- Secretary: keep minutes of meetings and inform all Council members of meetings and special events
- Members-At-Large: Up to 8 positions are available for two representatives per Class. Members-At-Large will work with the president and other officers in planning, organizing, and implementing programs and meetings
Honors Council members are expected to meet the following requirements in addition to the duties of their elected position:
- Be available on Tuesday, May 4th (no classes on this day) for individual and group pictures to be posted on the Honors College website
- Attend the Honors College Orientation and Cookout for incoming Honors College students on Tuesday, August 10th
- Provide a bio to be posted on the Honors College Website
- Participate in monthly meetings to be held on the first Monday of the month from 5-7pm
- Participate in Monday Night Honors events from 5-7pm
- Work together to plan community engagement and social events and help facilitate student involvement in the programs; attend Monday Night Honors community engagement activities
