Assistantships support the research, teaching, and service responsibilities of the University and help students pay for their graduate training. Therefore, graduate assistants must maintain satisfactory academic progress and performance and successfully complete the assigned research, teaching, or other responsibilities. Almost all of the assistantships are managed directly by the various departments and programs. Please contact the department directly for information.
Graduate assistantships, graduate research assistantships, teaching assistantships, and fellowships are available to full-time, degree-seeking students. Assistantships are primarily available in academic departments and administrative offices on campus. To obtain information about available positions, please contact your department or visit the 'Available Assistantships' link from the tabs at the top of this page. You may download the Graduate Assistantship Application. The Graduate Assistantship Application should be submitted to the department offering the position in which you are applying.
Teaching assistantships require a separate application process. These financial awards may have an effect on your financial aid eligibility. The University System of Georgia requires all graduate students receiving a tuition reduction as part of their graduate assistantship award to have health insurance, which meets certain minimum requirements. To learn more about this requirement, go to Student Health Insurance Policy.
